THREE people have been taken to hospital following a car accident in Upper Tean, as police are warning motorists to take care in ‘treacherous’ conditions.

Staffordshire Police were called out at 7.15am this morning to a grey Seat Ibiza which had flipped onto its roof in Hollington Road.

The three occupants of the car were taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Emergency services were also dispatched to a two vehicle smash in Uttoxeter Road involving a grey Peugeot 307 and a grey ford KA, after one vehicle ‘hit black ice and lost control’.

Minor injuries were reported and ambulance are in attendance at the scene.

The road has now been cleared.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said via Facebook: “Driving conditions are treacherous in rural areas and we’re dealing with a number of road traffic collisions around the county.

“At last count there were over 20 and icy roads are believed to be a contributing factor in most of them. Fortunately, none are believed to have caused serious injury.

“Please take care and slow down.”
