UTTOXETER Whites bounced back from the previous week’s defeat by overcoming a talented Mickleover Sports side.
Mickleover started the stronger of the two outfits and soon forced in-form Uttoxeter goal keeper Oliver Lodge to make one of his trademark one-on-one saves.
Mickleover continued to force the pace, but the Whites were rarely troubled thanks to superb defending from Sam Cope (pictured).
Towards the end of the first half Uttoxeter began to gain control, but without creating many chances.
They started the second half in positive manner. Cope continued to excel in defence and was ably supported by Reuben Kenny and Ben Meads.
In midfield, George Beech and Ethan Newton-Taylor began to find Jed Brunt and a great pass through the heart of the Mickleover defence allowed the striker to run clear and finish in deadly fashion.
Mickleover responded well and were able to put pressure on the Uttoxeter backline with a series of corner kicks.
However it was Uttoxeter who scored again when Brunt reacted quickest in the box to score his second of the game.
