Department store brand John Lewis' Christmas TV adverts are fast becoming an event to almost rival Christmas itself.
This year's takes on a beautiful Animals of Farthing Wood theme and features the smooth, sweet vocals of Lily Allen covering Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know'.
It's a welcome return for the singer, who hasn't released any solo material since 2010. (I'm gunning for a new album from her soon).
The advert, named 'The Bear and the Hare' is the first campaign by the brand to use hand-drawn animation - costing £7 million to make.
The story - evocative of many childhood tales, tells of a friendship between a bear and a hare. The first TV airing of the advert will take place during the X Factor on ITV this Saturday - and will take up an entire advert break.
Featuring the strapline ‘Give someone a Christmas they’ll never forget’, the story evokes the excitement of a first Christmas and the importance of friendship and thoughtfulness.
Craig Inglis, Marketing Director, John Lewis, comments: “We wanted our advert to reflect the importance of finding the right gift for friends and loved ones, a theme which we have built on for a number of years. Through the use of hand-crafted animation, we’re hoping to evoke nostalgia and build anticipation ahead of Christmas.”
