Poll: 007 turns 50

Happy Birthday Mr Bond! It’s 50 years today since James Bond hit our cinema screens – in the adaptation of Ian Fleming novel Dr. No.

It’s an exciting day for fans of the film franchise – there are celebratory events happening all over the world to mark the golden (gun) anniversary. Not only that, but pre-sale tickets are available today for the latest film Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, ready for the release date of October 22.

This will be Daniel Craig’s third time in the prestigious role, and he is the seventh in a legacy of actors portraying the secret agent which started with Sean Connery in 1962. After six films, in 1969 George Lazenby took over for just one film leaving Connery to return once more for Diamonds are Forever in 1971 (although he did reprise the role in Never Say Never Again which was a remake of Thunderball in 1983).

Roger Moore spent longest in the role, spanning seven films culminating in 1985’s A View To A Kill. Timothy Dalton was next, playing Bond twice before Pierce Brosnan took over in 1995. His turn as 007 ended with 2002’s Die Another Day and Daniel Craig stepped in for 2006’s Casino Royale.

As the ultimate secret agent, Bond has been thrilling us for half a century now, but which of his films is your all-time favourite?

What's your favourite Bond film?
