A BRAND new Waitrose store will provide 180 jobs and kick-start JCB's town centre legacy.
Supermarket bosses have applied for planning consent to open on a two-acre parcel of land on the former JCB Pinfold Street site.
If permission is granted, according to JCB chairman Lord Bamford, the move will act as a 'catalyst' for the redevelopment of the 22-acre derelict site, which housed a JCB factory until 2008.
When complete, the site will contain 257 new houses, including large villas, detached properties and town houses, more shops and a scenic leisure area next to the Picknall Brook.
It is hoped the Waitrose store will be open by the end of 2015.
