Uttoxeter swimmer Adam Peaty takes home silver at Commonwealth Games

GOLDEN boy Adam Peaty has done Uttoxeter proud after taking home the silver medal in the 50 metre race last night.

The 19-year-old will be taking home his second medal of the Commonwealth Games after previously winning the gold for the 100 metre race.

The sportsman completed the race in 26.78 seconds, a new British record. He narrowly missed out on the top slot to South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh in a Commonwealth Games record of 26.76 seconds.
