A UTTOXETER middle school is looking to set up links with a French school to ‘enrich pupils’ experience of the wider world’.
Windsor Park Middle School has acquired a foundation certificate from the British Council which will see it twinned with a school from France.
Head of modern foreign languages Helen Jones said: “To get the certificate we had to evidence what activities and events have already taken place which demonstrate and promote internationalism.
“Our next step is to work collaboratively with a French school so that pupils here and there can apply their language skills and have a better understanding about other cultures.
“We are proud of our foundation certificate and look forward to promoting internationalism.”
“We recognise the need to equip pupils for their future. We believe children should be given opportunities to experience a diverse knowledge of the world around them and the British Council International School Award is the icing on the cake.”
Windsor Park already has a wealth of activities in place, such as extra-curricular language clubs, Keystage Two and Keystage Three feedback evenings for overseas trips and cross-curricular activities which ‘promote cultural understanding’.
