STAFF at a Uttoxeter supermarket have put their decorating skills to the test to help a charity supporting those with mental health issues.

A team from Tesco volunteered their time to decorate rooms for the Art and Soul Friendship Group at its Market Place home.

Andy Fox, VAST volunteering officer, supported the group in searching for volunteers to lend them a helping hand with decorating select rooms within their premises.

The rooms will offer members a dedicated space for relaxation as well as an chance to rent the rooms to other organisations to contribute to the sustainability of the charity.

Vikki Baker, Art and Soul’s senior project worker, said she was pleased with the support VAST, a charity providing services to voluntary organisations, has been able to offer.

She said: “I think VAST is the bee’s knees. Andy is well recognised and liked.”

Mr Fox, who supports groups in East Staffordshire, was able to put the charity in contact with Hannah Eadie, services manger at Uttoxeter Tesco.

She said she was delighted at the chance to offer their support and arranged a team of staff to volunteer their time and decorating skills.

Paint for the project was donated by the Uttoxeter B&Q store and Wilkinsons also donated a £20 voucher that was used to buy supplies.
