A UTTOXETER beer lover is looking to set up a Uttoxeter sub-branch of a real ale organisation and is now appealing for those interested to get in touch.
Uttoxeter real ale enthusiasts are concerned that the Heart of Staffordshire Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is not covering Uttoxeter as well as it could due to public transport constraints.
Now CAMRA member Dave Felthouse is calling on interested CAMRA members to come together to set up a Uttoxeter sub-branch in order to get Uttoxeter venues featured in the Good Beer Guide and organise CAMRA meetings at Uttoxeter establishments.
He said: “We are currently trying to get enough support from CAMRA members in Uttoxeter to form a sub-branch here in town.
“I know that several CAMRA members in Uttoxeter feel isolated and ignored by Heart of Staffordshire CAMRA and this is mainly a logistical matter as we are so poorly served by public transport in the evenings.
“Getting to or from Uttoxeter late at night other than by car is pretty hopeless.
“The last train back from Derby is at around twenty to nine with a slightly later one from Stoke-on-Trent.
“With this in mind if anyone has any news on pubs in the area I will be pleased to hear from you.
“We are also looking to set up a Uttoxeter sub-branch of CAMRA.
“We only need four interested members to make this work so if anybody feels this would be a good idea, please get in touch.
“The benefits are several, not only that we would have up to three entries in the Good Beer Guide.
“There are several good pubs and good beers to be had in the Uttoxeter area but at the moment we don’t have any entries in the guide.
“I have a venue in mind for the initial meeting and can get someone to come along from our parent branch to talk to us about how to get started.”
