MARK Grimley hopes Uttoxeter Town’s two main title rivals will take points off each other tomorrow.

Ball Haye Green and Wolstanton United both have nine points to make up on the Premier Division league leaders – but both also enjoy five games in hand.

“The best result is a draw – but they’d still need to drop points in two other games,” said the Town manager.

“There’s still lots to play for. Ball Haye Green have got to go to Audley.

“Wolstanton have got to go to Hanley Town.

“Newcastle have got to play both. Norton have got to play both.

“It’s probably the most competitive Staffordshire Senior League in a long time.”

Town, who are not in action tomorrow, were held to a 2-2 draw by Hanley Town last time out.

Grimley concedes that at 2-0 down he would have taken the point – but after the referee failed to add on any time the Town boss was unhappy with the standard of officiating.

He said: “They are kicking the ball out and playing for time – as you would do if you’re two goals to the good.

“In the second half there’s five substitutions and obviously our two goals.

“We’ve had some very very good refs this season, but I couldn’t say that last weekend.

“It’s still a point that we’ve picked up.

“Twelve more will guarantee promotion.

“That remains the aim for this season.”
