UTTOXETER Town’s focus remains on winning Staffordshire Senior League’s Premier Division says manager Mark Grimley.

Last Saturday’s 4-3 victory at Kidsgrove Athletic means Town will finish in the top five due to their vastly superior goal difference to any of the sides who can equal their points.

Grimley’s men remain top of the Premier Division, three points clear of title favourites Wolstanton United who enjoy three games in hand.

“If they have one defeat then all of a sudden it’s squeaky bum time,” said Grimley.

“We are looking forward to the run-in. We can play with the shackles off a little bit.

“We are a little bit disappointed that it’s out of our hands. We have dropped some silly points along the way.

“We were not good enough for a couple of weeks and lost a bit of focus – bit we’ve kicked on a bit since then.”

Wolstanton beat Newcastle Town 3-1 on Wednesday evening, but still have tough games against Redgate Clayton, Norton United and Kidsgrove Athletic to come.

“We want to be there or there abouts if Wolstanton do slip up.

“Second place is also in our own hands. If Wolstanton go the rest of the season without dropping any points then they deserve to be champions.

“We will take each game as it comes, look to keep picking up points and putting pressure on Wolstanton.

“We will have one eye on their results. The lads are still focused on winning it.

“We’ve been in that situation ourselves when you are playing catch-up. It can be tough. We’ll look to keep that pressure on.”
