A UTTOXETER-BASED photography studio were ‘delighted’ to be invited to help raise funds for a Kenyan orphanage.

Starphoto, in High Street, was invited to set up a mini photo studio at the Footprints Orphanage Charity Ball and Auction in October at the FA’s St Georges Park.

The event – which attracted some 290 guests – was held to raise more funds for the orphanage in the Shimba Hills in Kenya which provides a home and education for vulnerable children.

During the Ball Starphoto captured fun photos of couples, friends and groups who were able to take home a large mounted print on the night.

The Footprints charity was founded in 2008 by Kerry Watson, from Stretton, Burton on Trent, who first went to Kenya as a volunteer in 2007, helping to teach English at a rural school.

After her visit, she was inspired to dedicate her time to helping the orphaned children full time.

The Footprints Orphanage was built on land purchased from a local farmer and the building was created after the support of many loyal and generous supporters that Kerry has built up on a local and national level.

Footprints provides shelter, food, water, education, security and a sense of belonging for 19 children.

A further 64 children are now being educated in the Footprints Academy which was launched in January 2013.
