About our new bride blogger

Written byKimberly Matthews

We are delighted to announce that we have a new bride blogger! Let's find out a little bit more about her...

Hi, my name is Kimberley Matthews and I’m set to marry my fiancé James Reeves on May 9 2015 at Packington Moor. We live together in Burton-On-Trent and have done since February 2009.

We both work in Burton - I work as a residential support worker for children with autism and challenging behaviours, and James is head chef of a restaurant.

James and I first met in 2004 when I was out on a night out with a friend. We hit it off straight away and started by texting each other, eventually becoming very good friends. We would often go out at weekends with a collective of friends. However, with James being a chef, getting to see each other regularly was hard and we went our separate ways.

I then found myself constantly bumping into James at the supermarket and we always remained good friends and kept in contact with each other.

One night I bumped into him whilst on a night out in Derby with my sister and friends. We got chatting and on my way home I got a text from James asking me to go out for a drink, well, of course I said yes.

We went on our first date to a Thai restaurant in Burton and it was like we had never been apart, the rest is history really.

James and I spent as much time as we could together after that. He came to BBQs at my parents house and we went out on lots more dates. I went away with my family in August 2008 and when I got back we decided we wanted to move in together. By the February of 2009 we had our house and it was perfect. August saw the wedding of my sister and James' best friend. He was best man and from this point I knew James was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with.

On my birthday, in March 2012, I woke up bright and early as James was going to work and I was going out with his mother for the day. As I woke he handed me a little card and inside it had a lovely poem which went like this:

"So many times we wonder what we'll do with our lives and who will be there by our side, you're the only one I want to be beside me for the rest of my life

Will you marry me?"

I couldn't believe it! Of course I said yes straight away. He handed me a big card which said 'to my fiancé' on the front. I was over the moon - it was the happiest day of my life.

The following week we went out into town together and chose the perfect ring. Friends and family showered us with engagement gifts and cards so that day was a double celebration.

From that moment on I have been very excited to plan my big day. By doing this blog as I go through my planning I can share my ideas and experiences with other brides and grooms out there. As I work different shifts I will try and write about my wedding, it's not that much of a stressful time and I'll prove that.
