UTTOXETER HC ladies won their long-awaited first league game of the season in the Midland Feeder West League against local rivals Lichfield 2nds.
A brace from Jo Rae and another goal from Clare Baronowki saw that Uttoxeter got off to a winning start.
The early period was tight until a tremendous goalmouth scramble with Uttoxeter defenders throwing anything they could on the line to deny Lichfield the opener.
Stopping Lichfield in this spell was the catalyst in what proved to be a tremendous performance. After this it was a tale of Uttoxeter possession and some tremendous build-up play.
The deadlock was broken on the quarter-hour. Rae had a shot which was saved by the keeper but the ball dropped into the path of Baronowski, who slotted home into the bottom left corner.
This gave Uttoxeter even more confidence and they continued to keep the ball and pull Lichfield apart with the hockey they were playing.
The second goal came 10 minutes after the first. The dangerous Laura Walsh again terrorised the Lichfield defenders before passing to club favourite Rae, who slotted home a classy reverse stick finish.
The second half continued as the first had finished, with Uttoxeter pulling their opponents asunder.
A third was added midway through the second half when Tracey Horobin broke into the D and squared to the dangerous Rae, who had time to steady herself and finish neatly into the corner.
