UTTOXETER Road Runner Ian Salt came fourth in the Burton 10K race after a superb run.
Salt battled blustery conditions on Sunday, August 11, to finish fourth in a time of 34mins, 5secs in the seventh race of the Burton & District Summer League.
Charlotte Ford also performed well in the ladies race, bagging a time of 42:19.
Uttoxeter Road Runners fielded two strong teams, with the ladies taking second place and the men taking third place.
First over the line was Chris Davies of Telford AC in 32;20, with the first lady Louise Insley of South Derbyshire Road Runners in a time of 38:05.
A total of 269 runners took part, with the one-lap course starting just outside Shobnall Fields and winding upwards and upwards for some three miles past the Queen’s Hospital, up the Denton Road area and on through Outwoods before heading past Anslow.
The course was well marshalled and the only hiccough was a couple of horse riders who struggled to control their animals.
The return journey was mainly downhill back to Burton along Shobnall Road and provided some runners an opportunity to stretch out and pass a few who had not recovered from the considerable three-mile uphill effort.
The race organisers provided an impressive finish around the 400m athletics track at the Shobnall Leisure Complex with lots of support from the spectators watching their runners provide fast finishing skills in the sunshine.
