ROCESTER will name their new manager in the next “week to 10 days” after Mark Kavanagh was sacked at the weekend.
The Romans, third from bottom in the Midland Alliance and without a win since August, are taking their time over a new appointment.
“We’ve got a couple of options and are just investigating those before making a final decision,” said secretary Barry Smith. We hope to make an appointment in the next seven to 10 days.”
Assistant manager Ant Jones is understood to be interested in taking the job full-time after Kavanagh went following Saturday’s 5-1 home defeat to Causeway United.
In all, his record since taking over in the summer was just two wins in 23 matches in all competitions.
Although Kavanagh had to build a new side from scratch in the summer, Rocester had not won in 15 games.
Their last victory was at home to fellow strugglers Continental Star on August 26.
THE Staffordshire FA is investigating an allegation that Kidsgrove fielded an ineligible player against Rocester in the sides’ Staffordshire Senior Cup tie.
