CHARLIE Thacker has become the youngest ever championship winner at Trent Raceway.
After a steady first heat the 15-year-old picked up the points she required to win the Ladies Championship ahead of this weekend’s final race meet.
It has been a remarkable season for the youngster who was allowed to step up to the seniors despite not being old enough for the class.
Thacker has driven consistently all season from the back of the grid, and has been one of the top three points scorers out of any category at the Needwood-based track.
She also becomes the only junior to ever win an adult formula.
In the Novice A class Sam Barker give a good account of himself with sixth and seventh-place finishes.
Lexie Genders was sixth in the opening B Class heat. Josh Wells retired, but was fifth in the next run.
In the final Lexie led for most of the race and was heading for victory before spinning out – but still held on for an excellent second-place finish.
In the Front Wheel Drive category Luke Durose was fifth twice over. Lee Walker suffered a spectacular crash and ended up over the tyre wall .
Rob Walker was in Superstox class action but rolled his car, causing extensive damage.
Rob Fowell won the first heat with Abbots Bromley’s John White fourth.
Fowell was fourth in the next, one place behind White.
The pair also battled it out in the final, with White taking the runners-up spot and Fowell fourth.
