UTTOXETER Juniors under-14 returned to winning ways to progress in the Burton Junior League Cup.
Brandon Alkins and Fletcher Rushton were on target to clinch a 2-1 victory against Tutbury Tigers.
Tutbury took the lead against the run of play when a shot was calmly lifted over Uttoxeter goalkeeper Joe Evans.
Uttoxeter deservedly equalised when Alkins accelerated away from hs marker before bending a shot around the keeper after a build-up involving Benedict Green, Matthew Hollins and Will Hepburn.
Hepburn then made the opening for Rushton to grab what proved the winning goal with a thunderous shot into the roof of the net.
Man of the match was Jordan Hickey.
ROCESTER under-13 came from behind to beat last season’s big rivals Chellaston Boys 4-2.
They went behind to a fifth minute penalty but it proved only a minor setback as Danny Atherton blasted home the equaliser from a Matty Ronson cross.
Joshua Berry then latched onto a long through ball to make it 2-1 and Jack Cotton supplied a cool finish for his first goal for the club to make it 3-1 at the break.
The visitors had more of the play at the start of the second half and despite some stout Rocester defending, an excellent volley reduecd the deficit for Chellaston.
The Derby side went close to the equaliser before Rocester came back to life.
It was left to Gabriel Wild to apply the killer blow when his excellently delivered free kick avoided everyone to creep inside the right hand post to seal the victory and the three points.
Ronson was named man of the match.
UTTOXETER Juniors White under-10 suffered a heartbreaking defeat on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate against Hilton Harriers Flyers.
Juniors produced their best display of the season but lost the shoot-out 4-2.
They almost took a first minute lead through Tom Bell, but it it was Harriers who went ahead in the 10th minute when a shot bounced in off the underside of the crossbar.
Bell won a corner for Juniors after a lovely through ball from Chandler Davies, with his shot being deflected out for another flag kick Matt Buckley whipped the ball into the box and Bell headed to Robbie Charlesworth, who made no mistake with a shot into the roof of the net to level the scores.
ROCESTER Juniors Red went out of the Under-10 Cup as Whittington grabbed the only goal of the game.
The Reds had chances to take the lead before half-time, but Charlie Cope was denied by the keeper and the crossbar, while Archie Hill fired too high.
Rocester were out of luck after the break when Max Hunt’s shot thumped the woodwork and Whittington launched a counter attack to snatch victory in the closing stages.
ROCESTER Juniors Blue under- 10 suffered a similar fate as Alrewas Colts scored the only goal of their tie.
In truth, it was only a manof- the-match performance from keeper Jack Wright that prevented Alrewas scoring more goals.
Rocester did have a chance to equalise through Nathan Winstanley but it was not to be their day.
JOSEPH Renshaw bagged all four goals as Rocester Juniors under-seven won their first match of the season against Woodville Rangers to get up and running.
