SLEDGING, a snowman competition and a pet corner formed a winter wonderland in Draycott in the Clay.

Eland Lodge, in Newborough Road, welcomed around 500 people for the free event at the weekend.

Children were treated to a visit from Santa as he handed each of them a present as their parents were able to enjoy the Christmas Market.

The Uttoxeter Brass Band were performing festive carols as the Pet Corner welcomed different animals including alpacas from Kings Bromley, a white donkey called Snowy, a naughty Shetland pony called Robbie, four goats, long haired rabbits and a Tamworth pig called Rory.

Visitors were also able to bring their sledges to sledge down the hill as well as taking part in the snowman and snow modelling competition and seeing the selection of birds of prey.

Company secretary Veronica Coupland said: “It was good fun for all the family and a fantastic family day out.

“Everybody had a good time with their red, rosy checks.”
