Slow progress on cuts costs counicl dear

DELAYS introducing cuts are part of the reason county bosses are on course for a £4.6 million overspend.

Staffordshire County Council said a 'flexible approach' to making savings was likely to see the authority spend £2.25 million more than expected after the first quarter of the year.

This includes hold-ups in pulling out of running the county's youth centres.

The decision to give early years providers longer notice periods before ending contracts also looks as if it could prove to be costly.
