UTTOXETER Town Youth enjoyed safe passage through to the next round of the Sentinel Shield after extending their unbeaten run against Fenton.
Ollie Ritchie, debutant Dom Mees and Ryan Nesbitt bagged the goals in a comfortable, if not vintage, victory for the hosts.
On a difficult surface dried out by the long overdue warm spell, Uttoxeter found it hard to get into a rhythm in the early stages.
Despite not producing their free-flowing best, Uttoxeter still did all the pressing.
Louis Sherwin rattled the bar from 25 yards out, before Josh Bowden fired a shot narrowly wide of the post.
The opener arrived when an incisive passing move involving Joey Dyche and Shay Finney culminated in Ritchie slotting the ball home for 1-0.
Uttoxeter were unlucky not to extend their lead following headers from Dyche and Jake Lovatt, as Fenton managed to get to the break just one goal behind.
Fenton came out for the second half in determined fashion, but when they did breach the defence of Tom Morgan, Ross Bould, Dyche and Brad Dawson, the irrepressible figure of Joe Gorman stood in their way.
The hosts doubled their lead when Bowden’s corner was headed home by Mees to cap a memorable debut.
Ryan Nesbitt then made it 3-0, latching onto a Ross Bould pass and driving home.
Alex Davies then drove wide following a corner as Town Youth threatened to further extend their lead.
On Sunday Uttoxeter Town Youth return to Staffordshire County Minor Youth League action with a trip to Brocton, kick-off 2pm.
