A UTTOXETER museum is to talk to visitors and share the plans for a £500,000 lottery redevelopment project which is set to ‘transform the museum experience’.
On May 16 from 12pm until 3pm at Redfern’s Cottage: The Uttoxeter Heritage Trust in Carter Street, which runs the museum, will be talking to visitors and sharing the illustrations and plans for the re-development project.
The Uttoxeter Heritage Trust received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the complete re-development of the museum, back in October 2013.
This development funding of £40,000 was awarded to help Redfern’s Cottage progress their plans to apply for a full grant of £514,600 at a later date.
The project aims to transform the museum experience and create a wonderful visitor and educational attraction in Uttoxeter.
It will also improve physical access, conserve special parts of the building and provide ideal storage facilities for the unique collection of artefacts, archives and photographs held at the museum.
Redfern’s Cottage aims to become the home for Uttoxeter’s stories past and present and become the town’s treasured heritage asset and curators are urging anyone who cares about what happens to the museum to come down on the 16th and join in the conversation.
