AN EXCITING evening of music with a prestigious line-up has been announced for Uttoxeter town hall.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Uttoxeter, Councillors Hugh and Hermione Montgomery have announced A Night at the Proms to be held at 7.30pm at Uttoxeter Town Hall on Saturday, April 19 featuring India’s foremost tenor Anando Mukerjee and local soprano Linda Hammond.

Anando Mukerjee, will be performing three solo items in aid of the Mayor’s charities; the ‘Youth Drop In Centre’, ‘Fleur De Lys’ and the Youth Emotional Support Service (YESS).

Anando has taken the roles of Rodolfo (La Boheme) at the Belgrade National Opera and many other leading roles both in the UK and abroad. He has even had a special opera written for him in his native India.

He has performed at International concerts such as Kristiansand in Norway, The Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall, London, Al Madinat, Dubai and the Kennedy Center (Washington National Opera) and many other UK and international venues.

Known as the Pavarotti of India he is in great demand and we are extremely fortunate in being able to obtain his services for this event for little more than his expenses. He has agreed to forgo most of his fee for the Mayor’s charities.

Together with the Town Band and soprano Linda Hammond, makes this ‘an event not to be missed’. Tickets are on sale now at the Town Hall at £9 for adults and £7 for concessions.
