A LORRY carrying jam has overturned, leading to the closure of a main road near Uttoxeter.
The crash on the westbound A50 between Uttoxeter and Blythe Bridge happened at 8.30am.
Staffordshire police said the lorry had become embedded in the grass verge and the road was not expected to reopen until 4pm.
The lorry driver, who is in his 60s and from Wales, was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with head and facial injuries.
Inspector Ashley Farrington said the operation to remove the lorry was 'quite complicated'.
"As well as being stuck on the crash verge, the lorry is across two lanes and tangled in the high tension cables that separate the two carriageways," he said.
