THE charity set to receive thousands of pounds from a mammoth bike ride will be unveiled at an official launch.
The Talbot Charity Bike Club will be holding a party for the first time to announce the recipient of the cash raised from this years Paris to Uttoxeter ride, which hopes to see the riders return on September 7.
The launch will be held from 9.15pm on Saturday, March 22 at Uttoxeter Town Hall, in High Street.
The event is also hoped to raise the profile of the event, which has been raising money for local charities for the last three years, and also to raise some of the cash needed to cover the cost of the ride.
At the event itself Colin Capewell of Princess Motor Yacht, one of the sponsors, will be revealing which charity the riders will be cycling for this year.
All of the club’s sponsors old and new will have a VIP ticket for the event to join the team in celebrating the start of the 2014 ride.
The event itself will have a disco, live band, buffet and licensed bar.
Club secretary Tina Hughes said: “As a club we thought that a launch event would be a great idea, bringing together the cyclists, sponsors and the local community in one place to announce who our local chosen charity is for Paris to Uttoxeter 2014.
“We set out three years ago as a bunch of locals of the Ye Olde Talbot to make some money for charity.
“Little did we know that three years on we would be taking on the mammoth challenge of Paris to Uttoxeter.
“It is both organisationally and physically incredibly demanding. The launch event will be a great way to motivate the team for challenge ahead.”
Preparations for the epic ride are currently being put in place with organisers needing to sort out clothing, accommodation, sponsorship and transport before it can go ahead.
Tickets for the launch cost £10 and are available from the Ye Olde Talbot, in the Market Place.
