Young farmers club launched at Rocester school

Written byBY JAMES BRINDLE

A ROCESTER school has become the tenth young farmers club in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Young Farmers, who have over 480 members, visited the school and gave a short presentation on what Young Farmers is all about.

Then the newly-formed Abbotsholme Young Farmers group got to play some ‘get to know you games’, including polo passing and balloon busting.

They left the meeting discussing lots of ideas for events and social outings.

Christina Liddle, head of estate education at Abbotsholme, said: “Young Farmers is a great way for pupils to make more friends across the year groups and meet people from outside the school as well as learning and developing new skills.

“I know that the enthusiasm of the pupils will ensure that the Abbotsholme Young Farmers Club will grow and flourish and become and integral part of the school.”

Andy Goldstraw, county chairman of Staffordshire YFC said: “We are very pleased to welcome the pupils of Abbotsholme to be a part of our fantastic youth organisation.

“They are already preparing to compete in our public speaking day competitions and we’re also looking forward to seeing them at the ‘One Big Social’ for all our clubs at the end of the month too.”
