RESIDENTS are being urged to visit Uttoxeter’s indoor market to see the best of local produce on offer.
Louise Skelton, of Jammie Gifts, spoke to The Advertiser to encourage more Uttoxeter residents to visit the town hall, in High Street, on a Wednesday to sample the indoor market.
The growing market, which opened earlier this year, is also looking to welcome more traders to open a stall to add to the selection already on offer.
Mother-of-two Mrs Skelton said: “People are invited to come in and have a sample of local produce and a cup of coffee.
“We are all very welcoming and would ask if people have already been and know of others who are interested to encourage them to come and have a look.
“We offer tea, coffee and home-made cakes with stuff for children. It is still fairly new for this year with some different and new stall holders.
“It allows people to come along and enjoy a cuppa and a cake, and it can be more of social thing where they can wander around the stalls.
“There is a lot of effort that goes into the home-made items, which includes the cards, jewellery, cakes, sausages and jams.
“We would just like a few more people through the day to come and see for themselves what it is all about.” Mrs Skelton started Jammie Gifts at the beginning of the year from her Cannock home and also opens her stall at the farmers’ market based at the town hall on the second Saturday of every month.
The 46-year-old added: “Stalls at the market already include home-made jewellery, free-range eggs, decoupage, embroidery, cards and sausages made from home-reared pork and we are looking to add to that.” People interested in having a stall on the market can phone Uttoxeter Town Hall on 01889 564085 or visit Stallfinder.com.
Uttoxeter Town Council, which is responsible for the Wednesday indoor market and farmers’ market, also holds outdoor markets on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and people interested in getting involved are asked to phone the town hall.
