‘I WILL do everything in my power to keep my business’ said the owner of a Uttoxeter restaurant at risk of being transformed into houses as he reveals business is in fact booming.
Last week the Advertiser reported Trust Inns had applied to East Staffordshire Borough Council’s planning committee to transform Inn on the Park, in New Road, into 28 houses.
The report stated previous tenants had struggled to make the business profitable but current business owner Paul Wood, who employees 28 local people, said the business is in fact busier than ever with 3,000 people booked throughout December and them having to turn people away as they are fully booked.
Now, Mr Wood said he will fight to keep his business. He said: “There are a lot of pubs and restaurants out there that are struggling but we are doing very well. These changes in the planning application are not immediate, we know there could be changes in the next three to five years but that is if someone purchases the land. When we first opened we had a huge amount of work we had to do and I put in my own money and time to get it off the ground to get to people back into the restaurant. We are trying to build our restaurant but it had bad press from years ago and we are working on that and getting good reviews. It is a beautiful building.
“I will do everything in my power to continue my business and to continue to keep my staff employed.”
