A NEW exercise firm is promising to put the fun into fitness classes for Uttoxeter people looking to make a healthy start to the new year.
Funky Fitness Inc offers fun exercise to music across a variety of classes, with all levels welcomed and catered for.
The firm offers new approach to fitness to maximise enjoyment and achievement levels with some first for Uttoxeter and Staffordshire as a whole.
Classes like the famous US Navy Seals workout ‘Mega Band’ have only just taken off in London, while Funky Fitness will bring it to Uttoxeter with their own twist – dramatic disco lighting so that the room is darker and people are less self-conscious.
Founder and lead instructor, 38-year-old Sarah Slaney, is also offering free taster classes in fun activities such as indoor cycling, kettlebells and dance aerobics.
She said: “My approach is refreshingly different, with the emphasis on social as well as sweat – and I can help with weight loss, better fitness levels, body toning, improved self-esteem and a new found smile on your face.
“There’s no time like the present to take control of your life and I’m living proff of that.
“Losing my dad a few years ago and a recent health scare really knocked me back, but I drew on exercise to kick start me and a new career.”
All Funky Fitness Classes will be held at Gym and Tonic in Dovefields Retail Psrk and Uttoxeter Racecourse.
Another first for the area and coming soon is Class Central – exercise workouts with a difference specifically aimed at 12-16-year-olds who need encouragement, motivation and education on fitness.
They’re all to the very latest tunes and involve some impressive light shows and based on Ms Slaney’s experience of teaching dance aerobics during PE at Denstone College.
She is also a listed specialist for the Exercise Referral Scheme run by East Staffordshire Primary Care Trust.
