A UTTOXETER crisp manufacturer is set to compete against a speciality food company in a football match for charity.
The charity match will see glennans compete against Cottage Delight to raise money for the Evie Trust,
It will be held at the Ball Haye Green Working Men’s Club, in Leek, at 2pm on Saturday.
Richard Thompson, glennans brand manager, participator and coordinator of the match, said: “At our last meeting with the guys from Cottage Delight, just before the world cup - when we all still liked football, we thought it would be a great idea to have an inter-company charity football match as a bit of fun and to raise some money for charity at the same time. It’s a great way to continue building the relationship we have with them as well.”
Sarah Glennan – Moore, glennans business development director, said: “At sometime in our lives we either have known or will know someone affected by cancer and believe this is a great charity to support now and moving forward."
Both companies aim to raise around £2,000 to £3,000 for charity and they have set up online site where people can donate and sponsor the teams at http://www.justgiving.com/glennanscharityfootball/ .
People can also support the players on the day and donations and sponsorship can be taken before and after the match.
