UTTOXETER’S Cinebowl is set to welcome its first 3D screen in the New Year as part of modernisation of the town venue.
The management at the facility in Dovefields Retail Park told the Advertiser it will be introducing its first 3D screen in the New Year as well making the other screen’s digital.
A spokesman for Cinebowl said: “The cinema will be introducing its first 3D screen in the New Year which will enhance the whole cinema experience for film lovers in Uttoxeter.
“The other screens in the cinema will be becoming digital providing a fantastic quality picture for all who visit the Cinebowl.”
The move to 3D could come just in time for two major releases in the format - Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and the critically acclaimed Life Of Pi which is being lauded as the best use of 3D technology to date.
Meanwhile the new ice rink at the Cinebowl which opened at the end of October is proving a hit with townsfolk and looks set to be a big draw over the festive holiday period.
Andrew Hodgkinson from the Planet Ice Cinebowl/i-Skate complex said: “Ice skating has really taken off and the rink is host to people of all ages which is fantastic. The junior disco is extremely popular, with more and more people coming each week.
“It’s lovely to watch everyone having so much fun on the ice.”
