A THEME park has launched its first ever video game based on its new rollercoaster.
Alton Towers, near Uttoxeter, will unveil The Smiler, its fastest ever ride, in May 2013.
A virtual recreation of The Smiler will be available to download onto mobile phones and other electronic gadgets to show viewers what the ride experience will be.
Katherine Duckworth, head of consumer marketing at Alton Towers, said: “The Smiler is the biggest ever ride launch for the Alton Towers resort and so we really wanted to create something that would get our guests excited about the ride and give them a taste of what is to come before the new coaster opens in May.”
Jeff Coghlan, chief executive of Matmi, the company that developed the game, which will take the form of a mobile phone application, said: “We’ve all grown up with Alton Towers so to get a chance to work with the team and create a game for The Smiler has been a great pleasure.”
