A VILLAGE show near Uttoxeter has once again proved a huge success as the sun shone and residents showed their support ‘in numbers’.
The Draycott in the Clay Village Show was held at Grange Farm at the weekend and saw villagers joined by people from across the area to enjoy the popular event.
Attractions throughout the day included the tug of war, fun dog show, Welsh Axe Men, fun pony show and craft and trade stands as well as residents’ hanging basket competitions and photography exhibitions.
Mark Gardiner, chairman of the organising committee, said: “A vote of thanks has to go to everybody who helped in setting up the show and making it such a resounding success.
“All the hard work put into the show was fully justified when the villagers of Draycott in the Clay and surrounding areas supported the show in numbers.
“A full schedule of main ring events kept everyone entertained on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon.
“We would like to say thank you to the Cripwells and the Prince families for the loan of the fields.” The show supports local charities, with the local first responders and St Giles Hospice benefiting last year, although it has not yet been decided who will benefit from this year’s show.
