MOTORISTS are being advised to take care this morning as a route out of Uttoxeter has been flooded.
A section of the B5017 route between Marchington and Draycott-in-the-Clay has been marked off due to deep water.
Staffordshire Highways department are on the scene to monitor traffic.
A witness said: “The water was quite deep and so I drove through the middle on a low gear to avoid getting water into the engine.”
A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council Highways department said: “We received a call at 6.15am to say that the road had been flooded.
“The road is a low-lying road and as a result it always gets flooded by the brook that runs alongside it.
“We had teams out this morning to tackle the issue.
“General advice is not to drive through water as you don’t know how deep it is.
“Anyone who spots flooding on roads should contact the Highways team at the Council on 0300 111 8000.”
