UTTOXETER residents were left queuing outside the town's post office for half an hour this morning after its sub-postmaster was delayed by a lorry fire on the A50.
THE A50 was closed westbound after the blaze broke out between junctions 5 and 6, near Hilton, this morning.
Firefighters arrived to find the trailer detached from the driver’s cab.
Sub-postmaster Karl Bubber was caught in the resultant delays and could not get to his business to open it up on time.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the trailer was 'well alight' as it contained a large amount of cardboard.
Emergency crews remain at the scene and the Environment Agency has been informed of the incident.
