Police seeking witnesses after double town attack

Written byBy Jenny Moody

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after three people attacked a man and woman in two separate incidents in Uttoxeter.

PoliceTown police said the first attack took place at 4.35pm on Thursday, September 20, when a man was assaulted in Holly Road, opposite Johnsons Apparelmaster Laundrette.

It is believed that there was a witness who was walking with a child and saw the attack and police are hoping to speak to this person.

The victim suffered only minor injuries.

After this first assault the same three people attacked a second person who was driving a black Citroen Saxo.

Officers said it would appear the three men, who are all white and aged in their late teens to early 20s, were waiting for the female who had just left the laundrette.

The men got into a black Vauxhall Corsa and followed the Saxo, ramming the vehicle twice.

When the vehicles were stationary at the A50 roundabout, near MacDonald’s, the victim started flashing her headlights at other vehicles in front in order to get them out of the way.

She pulled out onto the A50 and headed towards Rocester on the B5030 and then a vehicle in front of the driver stopped to ask her as why she was flashing her lights.

While this was happening, the Corsa stopped behind her and the three men got out and attacked the car.

Police believe the person from the car in front would at least have witnessed some of this attack.

Officers have arrested three men, who are all local, in connection with the two incidents and they are currently on police bail.

The force is now appealing specifically for the two witnesses to come forward to hopefully make statements.

The witnesses or anyone who knows who they may be is asked to contact Uttoxeter Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
