A UTTOXETER born film director is set to go back behind the camera for a rising singer and songwriter’s latest video.
Shane Meadows, who grew up in Westlands Road, has been revealed as the director of Jake Bugg’s first single from his new album, set to be released before the year is out.
In a busy year for the former Thomas Alleyne’s High School pupil, he has already won acclaim for his big screen Stone Roses documentary entitled Made Of Stone.
Meadows, best known for his film and TV series This Is England, shot the Clifton chart-toppers latest promo in their now hometown of Nottingham.
Bugg, whose self-titled first album shot straight to the top of the UK album charts, is currently on tour in America after finishing recording his second album with legendary producer Rick Rubin.
Speaking of his new release plans Bugg told Rolling Stone magazine: “It seems like the right thing to do.
“Might as well keep up the momentum, you know?
“In this time that I’ve been touring and travelling the world I had a lot of new experiences and opportunity.
“Why not write about it?”
Meanwhile, a headline UK tour for Bugg will kick off at the BIC arena in Bournemouth on October 19.
Since studying films studies at Burton and South Derbyshire College, Meadows has gone on to be one of the biggest names to come out of Uttoxeter.
The BAFTA-award winners film credits include This is England, which also went on to be a successful television series, Dead Man’s Shoes and Somers Town and also directed an advertisement warning young people of the signs of domestic violence.
