A MARCHINGTON watercolour artist held a special exhibition at her home to showcase her paintings.
Maggie Hatchard, the artist, who works mainly in watercolours, held an Open House exhibition for people to come and browse her artworks at their leisure.
Donations were accepted for St Peter’s Church, Marchington at the exhibition.
Mrs Hatchard’s preferred theme is the natural world, and she enjoys working with flowers, streams, rock pools, the sea and hidden corners of the world.
Comments on her website said: “I work mostly in watercolours as I love building up layer upon layer of colour to create texture. Often watercolours can seem a little washed out but there can be a great vibrancy to watercolour and I like to experiment with the accidents that can happen when using these paints, using them to my advantage. I also add in other media such as acrylic inks and opalescent paints.
“My subject matter is often flowers, I like seeing how I can reproduce the detail and colour of them.
“We live in an amazing world full of beauty and colour; even the tiniest of flowers have the most amazing detail.
“Each painting is a representation of what I have seen with my own eyes, set off by colour and texture to enhance their beauty.
“I hope you will enjoy my work and in turn see what a wonderful, fascinating world we live in.”
