RESIDENTS are being invited to visit a Christmas lights display in a residential area during the festive period.
David Roberts, of Johnson Road holds his own lights display in his front garden every year.
This year the display will run until January 5, from 4pm until 10pm at 33 Johnson Road, Uttoxeter.
Mr Roberts is concerned about the ‘reputation’ of his street and said by holding a Christmas display he hopes to show the street in a good light.
He said: “A lot of people have been saying on Facebook that Johnson Road people don’t work.
“I want to prove a point that we all work so hard for our money.
“We moved into the street last year and this year is our second year and the display has got better.
“We’ve had a lot of people stopping and looking and saying they’re better than the Uttoxeter lights in town.
“We want people to come and see how much hard work goes into the Christmas lights.
“They’re on till January 5.
“Each year I go out of my way buying new lights that replace the old.
“Johnson Road has a name for over the top and I want people to understand that there are people down this road that do go to work and people do get sick and have to have time off.
“I think most people pull the road down.
“The street has changed over the years - we do this light display every year and want people to come along and see what we do.”
