Hale to run for Checkley seat at county election

Written byBY JAMES BRINDLE

THE Cheadle branch of the Labour party has announced a new candidate for the county council elections this May.

Local agricultural researcher Jan Hale has been selected to represent Labour for the Cheadle and Checkley seat, comprising of Cheadle West, Cheadle South East and Checkley wards.

Commenting on her selection, Ms Hale said: “I’m delighted to have been nominated to stand for an area that I love. I’ve lived in Cheadle and Tean all my life, and I feel this is the perfect opportunity to give something back to the community.”

“I always took great pride walking the public right of way routes with my late father, Eric Hodgkinson, while he was a town councillor to ensure that they were being maintained.

“It’s an honour to follow in his footsteps and be able to stand up and provide the strong local voice on the county council that the South Moorlands so desperately needs.”
