A UTTOXETER school has said farewell to its acting head teacher as pupils celebrated the end of term.
Windsor Park Middle School held an end of term assembly offering its pupils a time for reflection, celebration and some fun.
To mark the last day of Carl Gliddon as the deputy head teacher and to wish him farewell and good luck, pupils all wore their hats into school as a ‘fun gesture’.
The school said that the idea of children wearing their hats came from Mr Gliddon donning a Fedora hat as his daily attire.
Therefore children liked the idea of copying ‘the hat look’ as it seemed a fun and appropriate way to celebrate and thank Mr Gliddon for his time spent at Windsor Park.
Office staff had selected music ‘for a bit of fun’ to play throughout the day with each song having a hat theme.
The songs included Wherever I Lay My Hat and Raspberry Beret to name a couple.
Mr Gliddon will now head back to Thomas Alleyne’s High School, in Dove Bank, where he will take the role of acting head teacher.
A spokesman for Windsor Park said: “Children and staff raised a heady round of applause and sent Mr Gliddon, hat and all, on his way to new horizons at Thomas Alleyne’s High School.”
Mr Gliddon will replace Suzanne O’Farrell at Thomas Alleyne’s after she announced she was leaving at the end of term for a new role.
Governors are now looking to recruit a replacement head.
