Written byBy James Brindle

A RAPIDLY growing Uttoxeter company is looking for success as it represents the town at a business awards ceremony tomorrow night as it continues to offer new jobs.

Uttoxeter Business Centre-based Momentum Recruitment is hoping for glory at the Burton Mail Business Awards in the Small Business of the Year category.

The nomination comes at a time of rapid growth for the firm which was set up in 2005 by Gareth Carter and is a specialist recruitment firm for the engineering and manufacturing industry.

The firm works closely recruiting for Rocesterbased digger giant JCB and is currently recruiting in the area for a major blue chip automotive firm based off the A38.

Recruitment consultant Sam Mellor told the Advertiser the firm’s success can only help the Uttoxeter economy and spoke of the company’s current recruitment drive for its new client.

He said: “Gareth has been dealing with JCB over the last couple of years but we obviously saw a major uplift during the firm’s upturn and now with this new contract with a big blue chip client off the A38 it has been a good year so far.

“We are currently looking for people in the Uttoxeter area for that client and have a number of people who have actually started there and we are still looking to recruit around 40-50 welders and team leaders.

“With JCB we have supplied and will continue to supply them with welders and CNC machinists through Blue Arrow into JCB and have a fantastic working relationship with both companies are we are hoping that the next year will be a successful year for JCB and hopefully initiate more job creation in the area.

“With a specialist organisation like ourselves we have ex-welders who actually work here so we have the knowledge to place the right people first time and the clients really benefit from that.” Momentum is now seeing recognition for its work with the nomination for the business awards run by the Advertiser’s sister paper the Burton Mail and Mr Mellor said the firm were ‘absolutely thrilled’.

He said: “I entered the awards for us and to be nominated in the top three is great but we are going there to win it.

“We think we have a strong entry and it is great for the business to get something like that and it would really cap off a good year for us.

“We are representing the local area and if we do well it can only be good for the local economy.” The Burton Mail Business Awards winners will be announced at a gala ceremony tonight.
