AN elderly couple had a lucky escape after driving into the side of a Uttoxeter pub after hitting the accelerator instead of the brakes.
The Dapple Grey, in Town Meadows Way, was left fairly unaffected after the couple drove into the bike sheds at around 4pm on Wednesday.
A spokesman at the pub said the couple were not injured in the incident, which caused part of the roof to fall down.
It is believed the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake which caused the crash.
The damage to the pub will be fixed in the next week and it has not affected the business in any way, although it did leave the staff in shock.
