A DEMON barber is set to make an appearance at Uttoxeter’s biggest high school as pupils prepare for the musical.

Pupils from Thomas Alleyne’s High School, in Dove Bank, are busy cleaning up their barbers scissors and pulling on their dancing shoes as they rehearse for the upcoming show they are producing.

Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street, will soon be making an appearance at the school as pupils put on the musical production of his life.

The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, also known as Sweeney Todd, sees a barber shop owner in Victorian London who is believed to have robbed and murdered more than 150 customers, thereby making him the number one killer in London’s history.

His barber shop is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs Lovett

Staff and pupils have been busy putting the production together and it will be performed from Monday to Friday, March 18 to 22 in the school theatre.

Tickets for the show are now on sale and available to the public costing £8 per adult or £6.50 concessions for the Monday to Thursday shows and £10 per adult and £8 concessions for their gala performance on the Friday evening.

Anyone wishing to attend should contact the school to buy their tickets.

A spokesman for the school said: “The shows start at 7.30pm and if past productions are anything to go by, will prove to be a great success.”
