A LORRY driver has been seriously injured following a crash with another heavy goods vehicle.
He was driving an HGV which collided with the rear of an articulated lorry along the B5030 near Uttoxeter.
The man, who comes from the Stoke-on-Trent area, had to be freed from the vehicle by firefighters.
He was then taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
A police spokesman said: “He had sustained quite nasty injuries, but we don’t believe they were life-threatening.”
The other lorry driver, who comes from Yorkshire, was not seriously hurt.
The crash happened at 4.50pm on Tuesday between the turn-off for the A50 at Uttoxeter and the JCB headquarters in Rocester.
It led to the closure of the B5030 as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the accident.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on the main switchboard number 101. They should quote reference number 579 of December 17.
