UTTOXETER resonated to the majestic sounds of the bagpipes last Friday, as a coffee lounge hosted its Burns Night celebration.

Guests wearing formal dress who attended the evening at Indulgence Coffee House, in Lions Buildings, were greeted by Jamie Kendall who played the bagpipes on their arrival.

Iain Rodger who gave the traditional Burns Night address with Mr Kendall has given the address to the haggis all over the world.

Indulgence owner David Hunter said: “This event has become really popular and is recognised as a really good Burns Night event.

“One of the guests, who has himself been a guest or has given the address to the haggis at events all over the world said that this was the best event he had been to in 30 years.

“This is a tribute to Iain and Jamie whose passion and enthusiasm for Burns is infectious.”

After the four course meal and traditional toast to the ‘Immortal Memory of Robert Burns’ a ‘Toast to the Lassies’ and ‘A reply to the Toast to the Lassies’ the guests enjoyed recitation of Burns poetry and an introduction to the music of the bagpipes.

Mr Hunter said: “The evening has been a great success and Iain and Jamie are already looking to book return dates for next year.”
