Chiropractor lending a hand to Lourdes trip

Written byBy James Brindle

A UTTOXETER chiropractor is putting her skills to good use as she raises money to give children the chance to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Tamzin Cole, from Uttoxeter Chiropractic Clinic, in High Street, has teamed up with the regional group of HCPT — The Pilgrimage Trust, to help fund its Easter pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Every Easter HCPT takes around 2,000 children with disabilities, or social or emotional needs, on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes.

Tony Scheuber, from the Staffordshire Group of the HCPT Group 20 was a patient of Miss Cole’s and after hearing about the organisation she was eager to get involved.

The 22-year-old told the Advertiser: “We got to talking about what he did and as soon as he said Lourdes I was interested as I had been there when I was a child and I said I would like to help.

“I wanted to do something where I could use my chiropractic skills as I thought that would be the best way I could help.

“I will be doing half-price assessments which will be £10 and all the money goes to HCPT Group 20 to help fund the trips.

“There is no commitment to carry on coming after the assessment so if people have got an ache or pain then please come and see us as it will all go to charity and hopefully we can help you.” The first half-price assessments for the charity will be carried out on Tuesday, December 11, from 9am until 1pm and anyone interested is asked to ring 01889 567896 to book an appointment.

There will be another chance to take part in the fund-raising sessions on an as yet unconfirmed date after Christmas.

Mr Scheuber, from Tean, said: “It costs £740 per child and we have so far managed to raise enough to take five children from this area and we would like to take another three, so we are more than halfway to our fund-raising target.

“We are really pleased that Tamzin has got involved as anybody who can help us raise the funds for the children is welcome.

“Most children who go enjoy the trip so much that they want to go back and they get so much out of it.” Miss Cole has been at the Uttoxeter Chiropractic Clinic for about four months covering the maternity leave of regular chiropractor Jenny Hudson.

She said: “It has been fantastic to meet everyone and people have been very welcoming and accepting.

“I would encourage people to come and see us and not be scared or worried about it.

“There is no commitment. We can educate people about their problem and explain how we can help them and how they can help themselves.”
