A UTTOXETER football school for youngsters has been nominated for a national award.
Socatots, which holds classes at the Heath Community Centre, in Holly Road, has been nominated in the Best Local Activity for Under 5’s category in the What’s on for Little Ones awards.
The UK website hosts thousands of companies across the country, with details of classes, local events and parental advice.
Adam Holland, operations manager of Socatots South and East Staffordshire, said: “I am understandably delighted to be nominated for an international award, for such a small area in the UK.
“It recognises the hard work, passion and commitment that all of my staff have put in over, not only the short term, but over the past few years.”
The company is a large worldwide franchise which was set up by Simon Clifford in 2001, which has businesses across the UK and the world including as Dubai, South Africa and Poland.
Socatot’s was the very first football specific playgroup of its type.
The company has recently been taken over by Rupert Lowe, who is the ex-Southampton chairman – who brought in players such as Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale.
The Staffordshire franchise was set up in 2006, by Eddie Ray, and is one of a few in the UK to have over 200 children attending the courses, and eight coaches delivering across 15 different classes across the region.
The voting stage opens at the end of March and the awards take place on June 30.
