Written byBY JENNY MOODY

A CHALLENGE to raise money for three charities in memory of a popular Uttoxeter woman who died tragically in a house fire has broken the £11,000 mark.

The Three Peaks for Lisa challenge, in memory of Lisa Oldham, has reached the milestone barrier as donations and fund-raising events are held across the area.

The event itself will see Mrs Oldham’s family and friends climb three of the highest mountains in the UK on June 14 and 15 to raise funds for the organisations which fought to save her.

Her father, Peter Douglas, brother Glyn Douglas and son Douglas will be among those braving the heights to raise funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, and the Dove Valley Community First Responders.

To help them in their epic challenge events are being held in the run up to the big day, which marks the anniversary of her accident and her birthday.

The next event will be the Rocester Football Club Race Night on Saturday, March 23.

In April there will be a golf competition at The Manor, in Kingstone, on Friday 26.

May will be a busy money month for fund-raisers with a Texas Hold’em competition at Stoke On Trent Casino on Sunday 12, a Three Peaks for Lisa raceday at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Sunday 26, the Virtual Fourth Peak with Uttoxeter, Abbots Bromley and Barton Fire and Rescue Services on Sunday 26 and also on the same day with be The Bupa Great Manchester Run with the Abbots Bromley Stags.

After the challenge in June there will be a charity football match on Friday 28 at the Abbots Bromley Football Club which will see the Abbots Bromley Stags FC take on a Douglas Select XI side.

Mother-of-two Mrs Oldham was injured in a fire at her Wood Lane home as she was attempting to light a bio-ethanol burner.

She passed away more than a week later, on June 30, after bravely battling for life at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Fourteen of her friends and family, with two support team drivers, will take on the challenge to raise more than £15,000, £5,000 each for the three charities.

Further information on the challenge and details of how to donate to the worthy causes is available at www.3peaksforlisa.com
