Careers fair introduces pupils to their options

UTTOXETER’S biggest high school has been showing its pupils what is on offer for the future with a careers fair.

Thomas Alleyne’s High School, in Dove Bank, hosted the annual event for its year nine pupils to show them what options they have available to them when they finish their compulsory education.

The event was in conjunction with the Options Information Evening and saw more than 350 people attend the school for the evening.

The evening aimed to get pupils thinking about the various post 16 options available to them including going to college, sixth form, training and apprenticeships.

Exhibitors on the day included Burton College, Stoke College, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Young Peoples’ Services.

Also speaking to the pupils were local firms such as digger giant JCB, Keystone, Glenthorne Veterinary Practice and Whitepeak Dental Practice.

Thomas Alleyne’s sixth form also had an information stand offering pupils information on the various options available to them.

A spokesman for the school said the event proved popular with pupils and parents as they gathered information for the future from the stands.

He said: “There was a real buzz in the school canteen as over 350 students and parents used the opportunity to gather information from a wide range of exhibitors.

“Many thanks to all exhibitors for making it such a successful evening.”
